Sanders Gives Money to Addabbo Health Center
The Joseph P. Addabo Family Health Center has to announced that $260 thousand of council-manic funds obtained by Council member James Sanders Jr. has been earmarked for the building of our new state-of-the-art health center to be located at 6200 Beach Channel Drive. Councilman Sanders had met with an ad hoc committee of the Addabbo Board of Directors in April to get an update on the project. At that time he had promised to try to get $250,000 for the capital improvement. "This is a matter near and dear to my heart," related Councilman Sanders. "I can remember going to Pryme as a child to get my shots. I also remember being one of the first veterans to sign up for the Veteran Program at Addabo’s 1288 Central Avenue site. I salute the fine work of Dr. J.R. Peter Nelson who answered the call five years ago to come to the Rockaways with the mission of building a health center. I further acknowledge the dedication of board chairperson, Ms. Beverly Tate, who under her watch, Dr. Nelson has taken health care in the Rockaways into the new millennium. The community stands tall as we continue to provide quality primary health care to all those in need. I had promised $250,000 but was able to get an extra $10,000. After all- it is in my backyard."
