Astoria Homicide Committed By Arverne Man
An Arverne resident, reportedly outraged that his former girlfriend had found a new lover, shot and killed a Bronx man in Astoria last Saturday.
According to NYPD sources and the office of Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, Sean Harris, 37, of Beach 54 Street, went to his ex-girlfriend’s Astoria apartment at about 1:30 a.m.
When he found her with another man, he allegedly kicked in a panel on the apartment’s front door, stuck a handgun inside the door and fired blindly two times.
His wild shots struck Bronx resident Michael McCoy, 36, twice in the upper right chest, killing him.
Police from the 114 Precinct responding to a "shots fired" call arrested Harris and recovered the murder weapon.
According to DA Brown, Harris is charged with murder in the second degree, burglary in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
He was arraigned on Saturday and remanded without bail. His next hearing in Queens Supreme Court is set for October 31.
