Well, it’s the last day in October-Halloween! If you are going to a Halloween party this weekend, enjoy yourself. It’s such a fun day. The children are so cute in their costumes-they really give folks a treat appearing at the different doors all dressed up. Whether you are shepherding a child or children from
door to door or answering those little knocks to ooh and aah all the different costumes, have a Happy Halloween!

BCVFD is hosting a Halloween Party on Friday, October 31 at Grassy’s at 9 p.m.

The Family Halloween Party will take place Friday, October 31 from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. This fun-filled evening of family entertainment includes a D.J., hot food, coffee, and dessert. The price is $15 per person.  There is a family discount rate available. For more information, call Bernie at 718 848-9048 or Kerry at 718 318-2097.

BCAC Football Game Schedule:  On Sunday, November 2 the Pee Wees will play Valley Stream at noon. The game will take place at the Memorial Field at 1st Road and Cross Bay Blvd.

Tickets Are Still Available: BCVFD will be holding the Daily Raffle the
entire month of November. Based on TV’s Daily Number, ticket numbers run from 000 to 999. Chances are $5 each and are good for the whole month. Match your ticket number to the NYS Evening Daily Pick 3 (straight only). Matching numbers Monday to Friday wins a $25 prize while Saturday and Sunday matches win $50. The Annual Craft Fair at Christ Church will be held on Saturday, November 15 starting at 10 a.m. Crafts, Christmas gifts, ornaments and other hand made items will be available.

Tickets for the $10,000 Giveaway Drawing are still available, but the drawing date is very near now. The purchase of each $100 ticket entitles the owner to two places at the cocktail party at North Channel Yacht Club on Sunday, November 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. when the winning tickets will be drawn. There will be 17 chances to win smaller cash prizes in addition to the grand prize of $10,000. Only 400 tickets are sold for this raffle. Preschool Storytime started at the Library on October 22 and will take place every Wednesday at 10 a.m. and end on December 3. With stories, songs and crafts, this weekly event lasts 20 to 30 minutes and is designed for ages 2½ and up. If your child is 18 to 36 months, larger libraries have a T.L.C. Program. T.L.C. stands for Toddler Learning Center and is a five session workshop with age-appropriate games, puzzles and toys. Get set for Spring with a Kitemaking Workshop! This program is the day after Thanksgiving and it is for young people ages 10 to 18. All materials are furnished by the Library. Seats are limited for this program and signup is required. Stop in the Library to register or call 718 318 4943.

On Monday, November 10 at 6:30 p.m. learn how to make a Harvest Thanksgiving Wreath. This workshop is for adults. The Library will supply all materials for the completion of this project. Pre registration is required as seats are limited. Call 718 318-4943 or stop in the library and signup.

A Workshop For Working People! On Monday, December 8 make a Holiday Angel Rag Doll. Materials necessary to complete this project will be supplied by the Library. This promises to be a well-attended workshop, with signup necessary as seats are limited. Call the Library or stop in and register.

The St. Virgilius Parents’ Association and the Rosary Altar Society are

co-sponsoring a communion brunch at Pier 92 following 11:30 mass on Sunday, October 26.  Adult tickets cost $12 and children’s tickets cost $8. If you are unable to attend the brunch, it would be great if you could join those who are brunch-bound at the 11:30 mass. For more information, please call Stacy at 718 945-0732.

The VFW Hall will hold a brunch on Sunday, November 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $6.
