Mary Elizabeth Bobb
Housewife

Mary Elizabeth Bobb, a Rockaway resident for more than a decade, passed away on October 9. She was 84.

Bobb, who was born in Golden Grove, Guyana, was a housewife.

She is survived by her children, Yvonne, Leslie, Claudette, and Tyrone; 20 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; four nephews; and four nieces. She was a mother-in-law to four, and a sister-in-law to two. Other family and friends also survived her.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Services were held at God's Battalion of Prayer. Interment was at Nassau Knolls Cemetery, in Port Washington.

Jennever Clemons
Home Attendant

Jennever Clemons, a Rockaway resident for 20 years, passed away on October 12. She was 75.

Clemons, who was born in South Boston, Virginia, worked as a home attendant.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel and Rebecca Rogers, and her husband, Artis, Sr.

Clemons is survived by her daughter, Iris Bennett; son-in-law Cornelius Byrd; five grandsons, Hassan, Lawrence, Omar, Hassan Ali, and Artis III; four granddaughters, Darlin, Gabrielle, Dilma, and Janice; four great grandchildren, Jasson, Jael, Joshua, and Lauren; two sisters, Marie Tynes, and Willie Mae Kingsberry; daughter-in-law Chanda; nephew Henry Sweeney; and other family members and friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Services were held at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Beaver Hill Cemetery, East Denton, North Carolina.

Keith Garlin
School Bus Driver

Keith "Special" Garlin, a Rockaway resident for 15 years, passed away on October 6.

Garlin, who was born in Manhattan, worked as a busdriver, and for the Rockaway Home Attendant Service. He belonged to the Jesus Family Ministries.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Garlin, Sr.

Garlin is survived by his wife Ellenmarie "Precious;" children, Togy, Danita, Ali, Kim, Najel, Aqueeta, and Keith, Jr.; seven grandchildren; his mother, Joan Garlin; brother, Andrew Garlin, Jr. (Brenda); and other family members.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Disposition was at Oxford Hills Crematory, Chester.

Frances Hartmann
Longtime Resident

Frances (Nee Solino) Hartmann, a Rockaway Park resident for 95 years, passed away on October 20.

Hartmann, who was born in Manhattan, worked as a foreman in a doll factory. She was a member of the Eagles women's American Legion, the St. Francis de Sales Sea Breeze Club, and of the Catholic Daughters. She was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales.

Hartman was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hartmann, and her daughter, Mary T. Hartmann. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Cemetery, in Lawrence.

Contributions can be made in her memory to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, New York.

Peggy McGee
Wife, Mother

Peggy McGee, a summertime Rockaway visitor who came to live in Rockaway, passed away on October 23.

McGee was the wife of Ronald, and mother of Dorothea Acevedo, Tricia McGee, and Veronica Kane. She was the grandmother of Sydney Acevedo-Kyrsten, and Kelsey Kane.

McGee was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen McDermott. She is survived by her brothers, Larry and Kevin McDermott; and sisters Mary Bouderau, and Debbie Dragone.

There will be a memorial mass held at St. Camillus Church on Saturday, November 8, at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers send donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Dorothy McSparran
Ret. Housing Clerk

Dorothy McSparran, a Rockaway Park resident for nearly 20 years, passed away on October 18.

McSparran, who was born in Brooklyn, was a retired New York City Housing clerk. She was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Church.

McSparran was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick McSparran, and a nephew, Daniel McGouran.

She was survived by her sister, Rose Goebel; nephews Daniel and Michael Loughran, and Michael McGouran; and nieces Helen Clancy; Joanne Considine, Rosemary Egan, and Kathy Ryan.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.

Earl George Smith
Carpenter

Earl George Smith, a longtime Arverne resident, passed away on October 7. He was 61.

Smith, who was born in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, worked as a carpenter. He was a parishioner at the New Hope Baptist Church in Jamaica, West Indies, and at the New Testament Church, in England.

Smith is survived by his wife, Violet; sons Byron, Donovan, and Michael; a stepdaughter, Annie; his mother, Adina "Rebecca;" his father, Daniel; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Marjory, Algeta, and Lotinie; five brothers, Leebert (Witta), Roland, Oniel, Darrel, and Derb; several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. A service was held at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Canley Cemetery, Coventry.

Richard Vouse
Ret. LIRR Trackman

Richard Vouse, a Rockaway Beach resident for 30 years, passed away on October 21.

Vouse, who was born in Athens Georgia, was a retired Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) trackman. He spent 25 years with the LIRR.

Vouse was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Vouse. He was survived by two daughters, Christine Siley, and Vannessa Vouse; and a sister, Mattie Ruth Ambrose.

Visitation is to be held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home on Friday, October 24, 4-10 p.m. Funeral home service also Friday, at 8 p.m.
