John B. Jenks

John B. Jenks, who lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn until he moved to Rockaway 11 years ago, passed away suddenly on September 22. He was 74.
Jenks is survived by his niece Lorraine F. Sweeney, Nephew Edward F. Kalisak, great nephews Michael, Christopher, James, and Robert; great great nieces Kelly, and Jacqlyn; great great nephew Matthew.
As per Jenks' wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.
Craig William Payton
Craig William Payton, a Rockaway resident for 30 years, passed away on September 25. He was 51.
Payton was born in Queens, and worked as a maintenance engineer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roberta and William Payton; his wife, Vanessa; and son, Craig.
Payton is survived by a daughter, Lakisha; grandchildren, Craig III, Dakim, and Kashawn; sister, Jackie Reynolds; brother Kenneth Payton; nephews Darrell, Williams, and Kenneth; nieces, Tracey, Fatima, Ebony, and Ommega; great nephews, Neil, Tyquan, Shakury, William, and Joshua; great nieces, Deharia, and Janay; an uncle, John Payton; an aunt Mary Larkinn (Rayfor); great aunt, Eddie Bell Wright (William); and friends, Keith, James, and Alice; and "special woman," Patty.
Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Services were held at Macedonia Baptist Church. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery.
Home Health Attendant
Elaine Washington, who had many family members and friends living in Far Rockaway, passed away on September 29.
Washington, who was born in Inwood, worked as a home health attendant.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florine Anderson Washington; brother, Richard Washington; and sister, Jane Washington.
Washington is survived by her son, Shamar; daughters, Hakimah Beebe, Halimah and Najeebah Washington; brothers, Thaddeus, and Steven; sisters, Juliette "Judy," Carol, Diane, and Dale; aunt Elouise Washington; and her significant other, Jimmy Smiley.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home, with a mass at Gaffney's Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Forest Park Cemetery, Morganville, New Jersey.
Margaret Sheridan, a former Rockaway resident living in Peekskill, New York, died at the Home Holy Comforter in Yorktown, New York, on September 28. She was 90.
Sheridan was born on June 12, 1913, in County Down, Ireland to John and Margaret McAnulty McCusker. She married Daniel Sheridan at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, in New York City, on May 25, 1941. For the past two years, Sheridan lived in Peekskill. She lived in Rockaway Beach, and East Elmhurst, New York, prior to that.
Sheridan was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Sheridan, in October of 1990.
Sheridan is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Larry) Chizak, of Kirkwood, New York; a son, Daniel (Jean) Sheridan, of Crompond, New York; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Jon) Merritt, Tim (Natalie) Chizak, Rebecca Chizak, Danielle, Sara, Katie, and Daniel Sheridan; three great -grandchildren, Meghan, Brenna, and Douglas; four sisters and one brother in Ireland.
Visitation was held at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home. The funeral mass was held at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Peter "Pop Pop Pete" Wezkiewicz, a Broad Channel resident for nearly 50 years, passed away on October 3.
Wezkiewicz, who was born in Brooklyn, worked as a foreman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Wezkiewicz.
He is survived by his children, Antoinette McGovern, Patricia Wallace, and Peter Wezkiewicz, Jr.; seven grandchildren, Debbie Ott, Chris McGovern, Mary Kay Francavilla, Scott McGovern, Melanie Wezkiewicz, P.J. Wezkiewicz, and Anthony Wezkiewicz; and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements entrusted with Hillebrand Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial was held at St. Virgilius R.C. Church in Broad Channel. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.
