Addabbo Urges Residents To Take NYPD Test

City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo. Jr. announced that in order to give more city residents the opportunity to take the New York City Police Office Entrance Exam, the filing period for the upcoming exam has been extended until November 14, 2003. In addition, the filing fee for the exam has been waived.

Addabbo noted that this is a wonderful opportunity for his constituents who are interested in joining the Police Department.

For this exam, candidates will have the opportunity to choose from one of the following dates, Friday, February 20, 2004, Saturday, February 21, 2004, Thursday, February 26, 2004 and Sunday, February 29, 2004.

"Statistically, our communities are very safe. When the city is financially able to employ additional police officers, our residents will be even safer. I am hopeful that the extension and waiver of the fee will have a positive impact on the credible number of applications for the police exam." Addabbo stated.

Once again, the New York City Police Department’s Resident Recruitment and Retention Unit will provide free tutorial sessions for all candidates. These tutorial sessions are aimed at enhancing the candidate’s test taking skills. For further information, candidates can call 212-RECRUIT or visit the police department’s website at www.nyc.gov/ nypd. Candidates may also apply for the exam online at the same website.

Residents may also call Councilman Addabbo’s office at 718-738-1111.
