St. Francis Honors Parish Dead From 9/11, Flight 587


St. Francis de Sales has honored the parish members who died in 2001 in the attack on the World Trade Center and in the crash of American Airlines Flight 587 in Belle Harbor. Ac­cording to the plaques set in the new “Meditation Garden” across the street from the church on the south side of Rock­away Beach Boulevard between Beach 128 Street and Beach 129 Street,  12 par­ish­­ioners died in the terrorist attack, while five died in the aircraft crash. The memorial for those who died in the World Trade Center attack names six people who were working in the towers and six firefighters.
