PS 114 Holds September 11 Book Drive

PS 114 Holds September 11 Book Drive

The Children of PS 114 recently participated in the "PS 114 September 11 Children’s Book Drive."  The PTA, along with Mr. O’Connell came up with the idea to have the children do a "good deed" to commemorate the second anniversary of September 11th.  The school kicked off the book drive with an assembly in the school yard where the children did the Pledge of Allegiance, sang God Bless America, had a moment of silence and ended the assembly with all the children singing Proud to Be an American. The assembly was very moving and book drive was a huge success. The PTA collected over 800 new children’s books; these books were then donated to the pediatric units of St. John’s and Peninsula hospital.  Books were also donated to the Claddagh Inn.
