Patricia Marie Brolly
Patricia Marie Brolly passed away at her Breezy Point home on September 23.
Patricia was born in Brooklyn, and grew up in Bay Ridge. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) grammar school. She was an active parishioner at OLPH, especially in children's sports, and volunteer activities. In 1974 she became a summer resident of Breezy Point; she made her permanent residence there ten years later.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Michael; daughters, Margaret Dugan (Patrick), Patricia Brolly-Thorsen (Thomas), and Mary Brolly; grandchildren, Meghan Brolly, Brian Dugan, Sean Dugan, and Matthew Thorsen; mother Rita Hamilton; sisters Leona Morton, and MaryAnn Scaduto. She was preceded in death by her father Leon.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, at St. Thomas More RC Church, Breezy Point, at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, in Middle Village.
Barbara Jean Burwell, who's mother is a lifelong Rockaway resident, passed away on September 13. She was 54.
Burwell worked as a nurse attendant, and was a parishioner at St. John's Baptist Church, in Inwood.
Burwell was preceded in death by her father, James Washington.
She is survived by her mother, Helen Washington; husband, Joseph A. Burwell; sons, Erich, Derrick, and Joseph A., Jr.; daughters, Lorraine B. and Lenora J.; grandchildren Shanique L. Willis, Imani B. Jordan, and Nia L. Sanderson; brothers, Herman, Lawrence, Calvinn, Morise, Joseph, Steve, and Joe; sisters, Ethel Mae, Ertha, Arlene, and Dorris; sisters-in-law Delores, and Sandra; and other close friends and relatives.
Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Services were held at St. John's Baptist Church, Inwood. Interment at Frederick Douglass Cemetery, Staten Island.
William F. Gallagher, a Rockaway Beach resident for nearly 40 years, passed away on September 23.
Gallagher, who was born in Manhattan, was affiliated with the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 272. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and worked as a manufacturing manager for World Wide, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen Gallagher; sons, John and Robert Gallagher; daughters, Luann Gallagher, and Kathleen Wesslock; sisters Carol and Mary Gallagher; and grandchildren, Charles Gallagher, and Kaitlyn and Megan Wesslock.
Visitation will be held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, Friday, September 26, from 2-5 and 7-10 p.m. A mass will be held the following day at St. Camillus Church, at 10 a.m.
Oscar Fitzgerald Hall, a resident since 1983, passed away on September 17. He was 80.
Hall, who was born in Plaisance, Guyana, was a railway worker. He was affiliated with St. Paul's Anglican Church, Plaisance, Guyana - Sexton and Chorister, and Glory Light Tabernacle, Far Rockaway.
He was preceded in death by his children, Earle, Wesley, and Royston.
Hall is survived by his wife, Una; children, Winslow (Donna), Linden (Debbie), Lennox (Leonie), Ivelaw (Mazel), Carl (Sandra), Valarie (Orette), Trevor (Marcia), Sharon, Karen (Errol), Ronald, and Randy; 44 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, more than 20 nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Raised Family Here
Delores "Nanny Kiki" Higgins, who raised her family in the Rockaways, passed away while sleeping, on Friday, September 19.
Higgins, who was born in the Bronx on July 18, 1932, resided at the Roy Ruther Houses for the past eight years.
She was preceded in death by her son Thomas, and is survived by her other children, Roy, Annie, Edi, Bobby and Kathy. Higgins is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Delores, B.T., Salena, Rasheen, Antonio, Antoinette, Chrissy, Royce, Johnathan, Georgina, Franky, Timmy, Michelle, Angel, Richie, Angelina, Katelynn, and 19 great grandchildren.
Margaret C. Johnson, a lifelong Rockaway Beach resident, passed away on September 23.
Johnson was a homemaker.
She is survived by a brother, Lawrence Johnson, of Cocoa Beach, Florida. She was the aunt of the Steakin family, and was also survived by Joseph, William, Danny, Donna, Debbie, Carolyn Grottano, Denise Share. She was preceded in death by Michael and Richard.
Interment was at Old Tennent Cemetery.
Susan M. Kupper, a Rockaway Park resident for nearly 80 years, passed away on September 23.
Kupper, who was born in Rockaway Beach, was a homemaker, and a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Demayo.
Kupper is survived by her husband, Frank C. Kupper; sons, Donald, and John Kupper; a sister, Helen Wilson; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and Kimberly Kupper.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, form 2-10 p.m. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery the following day.
Frances McGarahan, a Breezy Point resident for nearly 20 years, passed away on September 18.
McGarahan, who was born in Brooklyn, worked as an insurance adjuster. She was a parishioner at St. Thomas More Church.
McGarahan was preceded in death by her husband, James McGarahan; brothers, Anthony and James Cantirino; and a sister, Rita Geffken.
She is survived by a sisters, Ann Calise, Grace Hillmuth, and Antionette Mahoney; and brothers, Fred and Joseph Cantirino. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. Interment was at Long Island National Cemetery.
Mark Erwin Walker
Mark Erwin Walker, a lifelong Far Rockaway resident, passed away on September 21. He was 38.
Walker worked as a law clerk.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Philemus and Elnora Walker, and a sister, Elnora.
He was survived by sisters Carol, Yolanda, and Bonita; brother, Philemus, Jr., three brothers-in-law, a niece, Allyson Elnora; nephews, Garnett IV, Christopher Maurice, Nathaniel Jacob; close family friend Linda and other relatives and friends.
