Two Arrested in Rockaway Beach Drug Bust
A husband and wife team who allegedly were selling drugs out of their Shore Front Parkway apartment were arrested on September 19 for criminal possession of controlled substances and for criminal possession of marijuana.
Raymond Morales, 35 and Elizabeth Morales, 21, were arrested at 11:35 a.m. last Friday at their 7600 Shorefront Parkway apartment, as a result of a warrant to search the premises.
Police from the 100 Precinct, executing the warrant, reportedly found seventy-five glassine envelopes containing crack cocaine and marijuana in the kitchen cabinet of the first floor apartment. All in all, in excess of one-half ounce of cocaine was found in the apartment, as well as in excess of twenty-five grams of marijuana. Both are considered "sale weight" amounts.
Police say they also found cash, more than 40 live rounds of ammunition for both nine millimeter and .38 caliber weapons and a police scanner in the apartment. The scanner allowed the couple to listen in to police activities on the peninsula.
The drug raid was led by Captain Charles Talamo, the commanding officer of the 100 Precinct, assisted by his anti-crime team, the special operations lieutenant and the precinct’s intelligence sergeant.
That location was reportedly the scene of a drug-relates shooting earlier in the year.
According to a spokesperson for the Queens District Attorney, the two were arraigned on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal possession of marijuana in the third degree and possessing firearms ammunition.
