A female Roy Reuther Houses resident taking a walk on the beach at Beach 19 Street last Saturday morning came upon a grisly discovery – a body floating in the surf.

The unidentified woman called 911 and both police and fire units responded within five minutes.

Lieutenant Boll, a fire officer attached to Engine 264 in Far Rockaway, waded into the surf and recovered the body of a still-unidentified man that police identified only as an "Hispanic Male." Boll began CPR and continued until EMS officers arrived and declared the man dead at the scene.

An extensive shoreline search by the 101 Precinct detectives as well as by the NYPD’s Aviation Unit turned up no further bodies nor any evidence of the man’s identity.

Harbor units of the Nassau County Police Department and the U.S. Coast Guard proved futile as well.

The body was removed to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway and then to the New York City Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Detective Naus of the 101 Precinct Squad and Detective Lewis of the Queens Missing Persons Unit.
