A 22-year-old Arverne man was shot last week as he stood outside an all-night grocery store on Beach Channel Drive.

According to the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI), Qasim Sheeko, who lives on Beach 67 Street, was standing in front of the store at Beach 67 and Beach Channel Drive at approximately 2:40 a.m. on September 7.

Sheeko told police that he saw some men arguing up the street and began to walk away when he heard shots and he felt a pain in his leg.

Sheeko realized that he had been shot and asked four other men who were present to take him to the hospital.

He was taken to the Peninsula Hospital Center for treatment and police from the 100 Precinct responded to the hospital.

After police questioned Sheeko, it became apparent that he had an open arrest warrant and they arrested him on undisclosed charges.

Sheeko was listed by the hospital as being in stable condition and detectives from the 100 Squad are investigating.
