Eric Baskerville
Stockman

Eric Baskerville, a Rockaway resident for most of his life, passed away on August 15. He was 39.

Bakserville, a stockman, was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Elsie Bakserville.

Bakerville is survived by his daughters Janessa, Natasha and Eliyan; brothers Mark Bakskerville and Thomas Trammell; brother in law Curtis Livesy; 27 nieces and nephews; two aunts and many cousins and friends. Special thanks to Minister Terry Shivers, evangelist Vannie Smith and Caesar Butler and Kevin Sheffield.

A funeral service was held at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home with disposition at Oxford Hills Crematory. Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home.

Basil Lloyd Benjamin
Construction Worker

Benjamin Lloyd Benjamin, who lived in Rockaway for about 15 years, died on August 14. He was 64.

Benjamin, who was born in St. Andrews, Jamaica, West Indies, was a construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Eunice Benjamin.

Benjamin is survived by sisters Winneth Miles, Nancy Brooks and Annette and Carmen Benjamin; brothers Gerald Buchanan and Earl Benjamin; an uncle, Michael Xyminis; brother-in-law Bernard Brooks; sister in law Paisy Benjamin; favorite nephew Karl Broughton; Godson Kjay Broughton; and dear friends Dawn and Margaret.

A funeral mass was held at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home. Interment at the Benjamin family plot, St. Andrwes, Jamaica, West Indies. Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home.

Paul McEvoy
Ret. Catering Supervisor

Paul McEvoy, a Flushing and Rockaway resident for almost 40 years, passed away August 21.

McEvoy, who was born in Dublin, Ireland, was a retired catering supervisor for Aer Lingus airlines, out of JFK Airport. He was also a parishioner at St. Nicholas of Tolentine.

McEvoy is survived by his sister Mary Carroll (Sean); brothers Peter (Irend), Brendan (Ruth) and Dermot (Margaret). He was also survived by eight nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Conner funeral home followed by interment at Mount St. Mary's Cemetery.

Florence Okola
Dietary Aide

Florence Okola, who lived in Rockaway for 25 years, passed away on August 19. She was 75.

Okola, who was born in Wstmorland, Jamaica, West Indies, worked as a dietary aide.

Okola is survived by sisters Sandreene Brown and Millicent Smith; brothers Leopard and Curtis Clarke; nieces Clara Biggs and Bernice Timmons; nephew Donovan Brown, and many other cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Friendship Chapel followed by disposition at Oxford Hills Crematory. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home.

Jeanne Ross
Nurse

Jeanne Ross, a Rockaway point resident for 35 years, passed away on August 26.

Ross, born in Brooklyn, was a parishioner at St. Genevieve, a member of the Breezy Point club and the V.F.W. ladies auxiliary.

Ross was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ross.

She is survived by her daughters Valerie Arnold and Joyce Shields, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was also survived by a sister, Florence Hunt.

Visitation was held at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at St. Genevieve on Friday August 29, at 10 a.m.

John B. Snow
Minister

John B. Snow, a Rockaway resident for more than 20 years, passed away on August 12. He was 72.

Snow was a minister and was an associate pastor and Sunday school superintendent of the International Pentecostal City Mission.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Havens and sister Martha.

Snow is survived by his wife Carrie; children Phyllis Anderson, Lydia Snow, Diana Snow-Williams, Stanley Snow and Rubin Snow; stepdaughters Macdee Edward and Wanda Davis; stepson Robert Dee-Davis; 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, two foster great grandchildren, and others.

A funeral mass was said at the International City Mission Church with interment at Calverton National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements entrusted with Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Funeral Home.

John M. Twohill
Ramp Attendant

John M. Twohill, a lifelong Rockaway resident, passed away on August 23.

Twohill, who was born in the Bronx, was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and worked as a ramp attendant for British Airways.

Twohill is survived by his sister Nora McDermott, niece Heather McDermott and nephew Joseph McDermott.

Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
