Now you can find a "good read" for your commute—a lot closer to home than before.

"I always had to purchase my books in Manhattan," said author turned entrepreneur Crystal Lacey Winslow, explaining why she decided to open Far Rockaway’s first bookstore in decades.

Winslow, who authored "Love, Life and Loneliness," said she decided to open her store, Melodrama Books & Things, after seeing so many readers on Rockaway’s buses and trains.

"Where are they buying their books?" she said she wondered.

Melodrama, located at 10-25 Beach 20 Street, has books by Elijah Muhammad and Hillary Rodham Clinton. They carry children’s titles such as the "Story Book Bible."

Inside the store you will find a peaceful environment. There are many plants and flowers and even a comfy couch to rest on. Winslow said a coffee bar is coming soon.

Melodrama has been open just two weeks, but Winslow said she plans to have more book signings and poetry readings in the future—encouraging people to" come down, sit down and relax."
