Last Thursday, Roxbury was one of the many communities on the eastern seaboard affected by the worst blackout in American history. Most made the best of it having impromptu deck parties. No lights and a hazy moon in the beginning of the night showed off an amazing view of the stars. Thankfully we all had our power back at 2 a.m.

Happy Sweet 16 to Lauren Willis ~ August 13. She celebrated her special birthday with family and friends at the Mayors Committee on August 16.

Last Sunday The Corp defeated the Yikes 2-1 in three games making them the Champs of the 2003 season. Congratulations Corp!

Congratulations to Jimmy and Cindy Mangan proud parents of a new baby boy. James Taylor Mangan was born on July 21, 2003 at 8 lbs, 22 inches. The proud family includes big sister Shannon, Grandparents Joe and Regina Mangan, Pat and Steve Colleran, and Great Grandparents Bob and Kitty Colleran.

Happy Birthday to Sheena Byrnes ~ August 20.

This year’s Sand Sculpture attracted approximately 130 children and 80 adults and Ellen Monahan, Jeanne Byrnes, and Dorothea Willis judged all the many entries. Congratulations to all the winners:
