Union Looking For Apprentice Glaziers
The Painters and Allied Trades Joint Apprenticeship and Training Fund, District Council 9 (New York City), will conduct recruitment on August 25 for fifteen glazier (heavy glass installer) apprentices.
Applications can be obtained in person only at the council, located at 45-15 36 Street, Long Island City, on August 25, from 9 a.m. to noon, or until thirty applications have been distributed, whichever occurs first.
The council requires that applicants be at least 18 years old, have a high school or general equivalency diploma (GED), be physically able to do the work, and attend a three-day orientation.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status.
Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
