From The Artists Studio
The perfect end to a great summer. The talent show on August 7 that brought the 5-week Camp kidsmART to a close was a morning of smiles, laughter, cheers and tears of joy and sadness at the realization that this wonderful experience was coming to an end. Parents, grandparents, kids, teens, adults, babies and everyone in between had a fantastic time. Entertainment was provided by campers, teen assistants and instructors. Singing, dancing, playing music and acting. A slide show presented images taken by campers and by Chris Jorge and Bobby Abrahamson. Congratulations to all involved. Thanks to all those terrific families who came that last day and to John Gilleece and the Rockaway Theatre Company for letting RAA use the Post Theater for the morning.
RAA also thanks the new local Carvel ice cream store on Beach 116 Street for their support of Camp kidsmART. The store delivered 250 flying saucers to the camp for its Carnival on Monday, August 4. It would not have been possible without the support of Carvel owner, Jeanie Jamin and Local 580 Ironworkers who generously contributed to the Carnival. The ice cream was one of the highlights of the day.
Reminder: August 19, 6-8 p.m. at sTudio 6, Fort Tilden – Queens Council on the Arts grant application seminar for 2004 Queens Community Arts Fund, individual artists. All applicants must attend a seminar in order to be eligible. Log onto www.queenscouncil arts.org for more information.
