Nursing Home Hosts Family Members
On Thursday, July 24, Bishop Charles Waldo Maclean Episcopal Nursing Home launched a daylong celebration for its residents, family members and employees. There was much to celebrate. Opening in 1985, the Home (A member of Episcopal Health Services, Inc.) is overseen by the Bishop of Long Island and guided by the traditions of the Episcopal Diocese. The day began with words of inspiration and prayer by the Home’s director of pastoral care, FR. Dennison Richards as well as REV. Dr. Joel Harvey, V.P. Pastoral Care. Also congratulating the residents was the Home’s Administrator, Mr. John Okwadu who was full of praise for the fine team efforts that have enabled the residents to "Prosper in an atmosphere rich with warmth and care." A barbeque luncheon was served to over 100 people on the outdoor patio complete with a live band. But the highlight of the day was a fun filled carnival where the residents had a friendly competition in horseshoes, basketball, darts and even dunked a few volunteers in a rented dunking booth! Prizes were given out to all that participated. It was a truly grand celebration for a group of grand residents!
