Local Writers Participate In RMAC Group
Participants of the Rockaway Music and Arts Council’s Writers Group entertained members of the West End Temple’s Social Club and guests on Sunday evening, August 3, when the Group presented a reading of works-in-progress. The event, introduced by Barbara Eisenstadt, President of RMAC and chaired by Estelle Feldman, featured readings of poems, plays, short stories, memoirs, and other literary works. Estelle Feldman, who has had work published previously, was the first to read. She read excerpts from her book for young readers, "So Many Things to Say"; a touching story about a boy who stammers. The next reader was Shirley Golub, a member of the Writers Group, who read her poetry. Other members of the Group were Hana Roth-Seavey who had help from two members of the audience reading parts from her play; Jean Rose with her beautiful haikus - she asked members of the audience to try their hand at writing this Japanese style of poetry; and Angela Leshowitz reading her humorous poem, "A Day at the Beach."
