Famous Sylvia’s Restaurant in Har lem was the venue for the Gala Dinner Fund Raiser for the International Immigrant’s Foundation, which helps immigrants to adjust to their new land by providing social services, education and cultural activities that imparts a genuine sense of belonging. Jose’ Feliciano, the legendary blind singer and guitarist with inimitable style, known in the US for his season favorite, Feliz Navidad and "Light My Fire" was the honored guest. Jose’ has been a long time supporter of the International Immigrants Foundation and continues to this day to support this worthy cause. Sylvia’s, of course, was a great spot to hold this Gala with her sooo delicious Southern fried chicken, spare ribs, salmon, black-eyed peas and more on the family style menu. That night they announced the 18th Annual International Cultures Parade that honors cultural understanding for world peace, to take place on Sept. 14 at 2:30 p.m. on Broadway between 54 and 35 Streets. This is the only parade that showcases the multicultural heritage expression of more than 100 communities. Thousands of performers on floats and marchers participate in this annual salute to the multicultural nature of the USA. Perhaps you may wish to join or be a spectator.

At one of the most beautiful boutiques

on Fifth Ave, Escada, (where their $5,000 suits are to die for. because they make any woman’s figure, whatever shape or size, look fabulous, a gala cocktail reception was held to preview the spectacular Mark Morris Dance Group that will be performing at the Mostly Mozart Festival in Lincoln Centre from August 6 to 8. The pre-preview performance was only a tease of three dance sets, but it most certainly whet the appetites of all present. Patrick McMullen, the famous Social Photographer whose pictures of Socialites adorn the pages of New York Magazine and many others and who has a beautiful new photographic book out on the shelves of bookstores and available on the web, looked young and refreshed as he scouted about snapping the upper class well-known. Buy his book and you will get to know the rich and famous by sight. We were all waiting around for Isabella Rossellini who never did show. We just had to be content with the gorgeous models dressed the gorgeous Escada fall collection: some in sheer chiffon and others fur trimmed, all luscious and so luxurious. Must not forget famous designer, Mazarati was there to display his private boutique on the second floor of Escada. Who needs Isabella Rossellini anyway! It was still a terrific evening.

Talk about terrific evenings…..I and a

group of travel agents were Water Taxied from Pier 84 (44 St and West Side H’wy) to the downtown marina at the Financial District where the Atrium is to attend New York State Destinations at the Southwest Restaurant right in front of the marina. As we disembarked a concert was performing on the plaza area and we were greeted at Southwest with huge, huge glasses of Margaritas, Grasshoppers and other fancy drinks, fabulous hor’s d’ouevres and a table of chips and special dips. A fun. fun time. And, Water Taxi is the way to travel.. You can get all day passes or one at a time to enable you to go from uptown to downtown in less than twenty minutes. It is a "breeze" with a magnificent view. More and more of these "taxis" are being put to use on the New York waterways. It is about time!

Speaking of water, the New York
Waterway has provided us with Ferry service from New York to Riis landing with FREE shuttle to Riis Park, Ft. Tilden and Floyd Bennett Field and vice-versa. My experience has been a delight. Check them out! It is a great way to travel.

Helene and Peter Danzilo just re-
turned from a delicious time at a clambake with Ernie Barry’s family in Farmingdale and made a whole weekend out of it. They had a great time.

If you are looking to enhance your ice
tea try Luzianne flavorings in raspberry and peach mango. It really makes a flavorful difference. I loved it.

Found wonderful new merchandise at
the Children’s Show at the Javit’s Center. A "scarf doodle" scarf with Velcro dots on bottom of each panel to place tiny animals. Just adorable. Then a designer who makes one piece baby clothes that look like two pieces. She makes dressing children a lot easier for Moms. Tiny all leather shoes made in South Africa that are soft and warm on your tot’s feet looked like a winner. The outfit’s were so unique. A Wanna B pretty colorful sparkling sipper bag with a child’s painted smiley face caught my eye and I am sure it will yours. And, a Teddy Bear that holds the baby’s bottle in it’s mouth is a plush toy and puppet that will never leave the child since it is complete with a plastic ring that attaches to the rung on a chair or carriage. Each year this show gets better and better.
