Belle Harbor’s Duggan Named All-State Player
Belle Harbor resident Dawn Duggan was named a 2003 All-State softball pitcher by the New York State Sportswriters Association. She was 1 of 2 softball players from the New York City Public School Athletic League to be so honored. Duggan pitched a 5 hit, 1-0 shutout for Brooklyn’s Midwood High School against Staten Island’s Tottenville High School on June 8th at St. John’s University in Queens. Midwood High School’s softball team captured its first PSAL city championship. Duggan, who is 17 and just finished her junior year, went 5-0 in the playoffs for Midwood and won 23 games overall this season.
