Congratulations to Ryan Sheridan. He is the overall winner of both the George Timmins Sugar Bowl Run held on July 12 and the Roxbury Run held on July 26. For the Sugar Bowl Run Ryan’s time was 17:50 for the approximate 3-mile race. We are all proud of you Ryan!

After the Roxbury Run the annual beach party, that benefits the Boys Little League and the Girls Softball, was held down at the Beach Park. It was a lot of fun with one of the largest turnouts in recent years probably due to the amazing weather that day. A special thanks to all of you that came up to me and expressed how much you liked the column. It was really nice to hear.

On July 12, Amy Rutter celebrated her graduation from Stella Maris High School with family and friends at the Roxbury Firehouse. She will be attending Brooklyn College this fall. Good Luck.

Into its third week, the Junior Men’s Softball’s better team, after three games, is the Loogies, with a 3-0 record. There is still room to join the league and help the Whoops win some games. The games are on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 8 o’clock for guys 11-15 years old.

The Mayor’s race is in full swing with signs on practically every house down the beach. This year Vote #1 is Alick Herman and Vote #2 is Vinny Lehner. The parade is on August 8. Make sure you vote!

Congratulations to Billy and Sandy Reid who were married on July 19. Happy Birthday to Anthony Piccione ~ July 25, Maureen Dengler ~ August 3, and Thomas McEnroe ~ August 9. Thank You to Patty Thornhill.

A Reminder, The Annual Sand Sculpture is this Sunday, August 3.

Take Care, Erin.
