The minor league girls of Pap’s Pizza entered the playoffs with an 8-2 winning record and demonstrated an undaunting appetite for a positive season’s end.

The first playoff game on June 28 pitted Papa’s against Plum Tomatoe. Taylor Conroy outdid herself with great pitching with 4 strikeouts and fielded 3 pop-ups. Annette Scotto, Kyra Meli, Lauren Houck, Rebecca Moers and Erin Tacopina gave it their all in the field to hold Plum to six runs.

The onslaught of hits by Papa’s, coupled with run producing walks dazzled Plum as they yielded 15 runs. The runs and RBI’s all came from: Cathryn Brown, Taylor Conroy, Marissa Scoot, Casey Collins, Kristen Sluyk, Rebecca Moers, Erin Tacopina, Lauren Houck and Lisa Pulkoski. Pauline O’ Shea and Caitlin Twomey drove in RBI’s as well and the 15-6 win over Plum was sumptuous.

The second playoff game of July 2 had Papa’s square off against Flynn and Flynn. Pitcher Taylor Conroy, 1B Annette Scotto, Catcher Pauline O’ Shea and Erin Tacopina at second thwarted Flynn’s efforts in holding them to two runs.

Pauline O’s Shea added substance to her title of catcher by securing a foul tip and a pop-up. All of the girls contributed to Papa’s 13 runs, notably Casey Collins with a homer run and a double, Kyra Meli with a triple and a double, Rebecca Moers with two triples, Cathryn Brown with a triple and Taylor Conroy with a triple.

The season finale, the divisional championship game on July 3 pitted Papa’s Pizza against Cross County Federal Savings. Papa’s held them scoreless 4 of 6 innings, allowing only four runs in two innings. As in games past, Papa’s girls proved "they may be small, but they’ve got hear". Annette Scotto, Pauline O’ Shea, Rebecca Moers, Taylor Conroy, Kyra Meli and Catherine Murphy secured the fielded outs and every Papa’s girl added to the score, notably Catherine Murphy with 3 RBI and a triple, Mary Ameruso scoring on a single (and this time, a pronounced, most obvious stomp on home plate!) all for a fabulous victory of 10-4! (over and out) Thanks to all for a wonderful season!
