Mossa Challenges Addabbo, Speaks of Rockaway Issues
In the upcoming November City Council election, Michael Mossa will seek to replace Joseph P. Addabbo Jr. as City Councilman for the 32nd Councilmanic District.
Although Mossa, a Howard Beach resident, is new to Rockaway issues, he professes to have the best interest of Rockaway locals at heart.
Mossa says that he has been working hard to get to know people in Rockaway and Broad Channel, and better acquaint himself with all of the important issues unique to the Rockaway peninsula.
Of particular importance, Mossa told The Wave, is a revisiting of the beach rules currently in place. Mossa was in attendance at the rally on July 9, and said "The beach is Rockaway and Rockaway is the beach." He is in favor of more practical hours for legal beach use, suggesting that the beach be open and guarded by lifeguards until at least eight p.m. during the summer months.
In addition, Mossa has exhibited support of a voucher system for taxpayers who send their children to private schools, including the large number of catholic schools in the area, helping to relieve their ever-growing tax burden.
Furthermore, Mossa seeks to introduce a Super A Train Express, which would considerably lessen the time of commute from the Rockaway area to downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan.
