On July 1, 2003, the Big Apple Games started at Far Rockaway High School.  Over 600 young people have taken advantage of the recreational program during the day and the High School competition program at night.

The daytime program from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Monday thru Thursday features the following: Swimming, Arts and crafts, A game room Table tennis, Nok hockey, Pool, Bumper pool, Chess, Checkers and many other board games

Also, the program features a full sports program including: Basketball, Volleyball, Whiffle ball, Hockey and street games

The evening program is a High School Competition center from 6 to 9 pm., Monday thru Thursday. It features skills instruction in basketball, football, volleyball, weight training, physical fitness and swimming for boys and girls in high school.

Both programs run Monday thru Thursday from 1 to 5 pm and 6 to 9 pm. The Big Apple Games end August 7, 2003. The program is free of charge. So, you should check it out.
