MetroCard Van Coming To Rockaway
City Council Member Joseph P. Ad- dabbo, Jr. has announced that the MTA-New York City MetroCard Program Van will be visiting the communities of Howard Beach and Rockaway.
The MTA Van will be coming to these communities to assist residents in applying for and using reduced fare and full fare MetroCards.
Addabbo said that on Wednesday, July 30, the MetroCard Van will be parked by Waldbaums, at the corner of 156th Avenue and Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. On Thursday, July 31, the MetroCard Van will be in front of the Peninsula Branch Library, 92-25 Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Rock-away Park from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Council Member said he had requested that the MTA make the van available to his constituents, many of whom are senior citizens. "The MTA was very cooperative," said Addabbo. "As I have brought the MetroCard Van to the district in the past, many residents told me how convenient it was to have it in the area."
Senior citizens only need to bring proof of their age and a valid photo ID.
The MetroCard Vans are express-service mobile units where customers can add value to any MetroCards and purchase MetroCards. MTA staff aboard the Van will be available to assist senior citizens, age 65 and over, and individuals with qualifying disabilities in obtaining their reduced-fare MetroCards and guiding them through the application process. In addition the staff will also be able to answer any MetroCard related questions.
"I hope that many of my Howard Beach and Rockaway constituents will come out and take advantage of the MTA MetroCard Van," said Addabbo.
