A Little Day Dumping A worker in front of the new Duane Reade Pharmacy on Beach Channel Drive and Beach 116 Street prepares a hole in the concrete in order to complete the job.
Same unidentified man wheels a wheelbarrow full of dirt and other material to the new Tribute Park site, where a Wave editor observed him dumping pile after pile of debris, despite that a sign on the site says “No Dumping.”
The worker and his boss, who was also unidentified, argue that it is all right to dump the debris to Police Officer Courtney of the 100 Precinct, who was alerted to the dumping and forced them to stop. The opening of the park has been put off for at least a month, according to local sources. This is only the latest incident of dumping on the site, which is slated to become a park in tribute to those Rockaway residents who died on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center.
