Local Detectives Grab Note-Jobber
Two Rockaway detectives, who were on Cross Bay Boulevard transporting a suspect back to the peninsula, pitched in and stopped a Howard Beach bank robber this week.
100 Precinct Detectives James Culliney and Thomas Dolan apprehended Darren Scriven, a 39-year-old male with no known address, according to the New York City Police Department’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI). Scriven entered the North Fork Bank, at 155-14 Cross Bay Blvd., displayed a weapon, and passed a note demanding money, according to DCPI.
According to other news reports, two EMTs, Joseph Pelo and Susan Landau, also helped the detectives subdue Scriven.
Culliney and Dolan recovered a 9 mm handgun with eight rounds, a demand note and more than two thousand dollars in cash, according to DCPI. The investigation is ongoing.
