HMO Legislation Passed
Legislation that will hold HMO’s and insurance companies accountable for denying or withholding necessary patient care was recently passed in the state assembly. Local Assemblywoman Michelle Titus sponsored it.
"Patients should feel confident that important decisions affecting their health and well-being are made by doctors, not HMO bureaucrats." Assemblywoman Titus said. "This legislation will help ensure HMO’s put patient care above profit."
In addition, 1.2 billion of the governor’s massive cut to health care was restored to Medicaid, Public Health and Health Care Reform Act programs.
