Council Incumbents Face Challenges
The two City Councilmembers who represent Rockaway will face challenges in the upcoming November election, according to a report recently released by the city’s Board of Elections.
The two men, who won their first elections by large margins, now face similar challenges for reelection.
James Sanders, Jr., who represents the 31st District on the eastern end of the community, as well as other portions of southeast Queens, will face two challengers, neither of whom are newcomers to elected politics.
His challengers are James Blake and Everly D. Brown, both of who ran for the seat the last time around as well.
Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., who represents the 32nd District, the western end of Rockaway, as well as parts of the mainland, will be challenged this year by Michael Mossa.
Mossa is no newcomer to elected politics, having run for the House of Representatives in the Ninth District of New York in 1996.
All of the 51 members of the City Council are up for reelection this year.
