Blocking A Vital Traffic Artery

Blocking A Vital Traffic Artery

With work proceeding apace on Rockaway Beach Boulevard from Beach 120 Street to Beach 126 Street (for the repaving) and from Beach 126 Street to Beach 139 Street (for the new center malls), many local residents have been forced to find new ways to get to and from home. While locals understand the need for the work, it is hard for many of them to swallow the fact that traffic is often diverted when there is no work going on. This picture was taken at Beach 129. Traffic on the boulevard was stopped for several minutes so that the two workers could chat. The worker on the street then pulled away in his SUV and the machine operator went back to work, allowing traffic to flow westbound once again. With work proceeding apace on Rockaway Beach Boulevard from Beach 120 Street to Beach 126 Street (for the repaving) and from Beach 126 Street to Beach 139 Street (for the new center malls), many local residents have been forced to find new ways to get to and from home.
