New York City Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (center) is joined by the Belle Harbor School, P.S. 114Q Principal, I. A., Brian O’Connell (right) and P.S. 114Q webmaster Ron Gerson (left) as Addabbo toured the Belle Harbor school on May 27. Addabbo stated that he was "truly impressed," as both he and Principal O’Connell reviewed a class 5-501 demonstration lesson which integrated their recently received Apple G3 i-Book laptops, for which Addabbo had secured New York City Councilmanic funding. Principal O’Connell has been heavily involved in "reaching out" to many area dignitaries including Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer, to help gain their pledges in transforming P.S. 114Q, into a "Model School of Technology."

New York State Assemblywoman Honorable Audrey I. Pheffer is joined by Principal O’Connell, as she visits with Gerson’s Class 5-501 on May 8. Pheffer added a “personal touch” to their Social Studies lesson, whose learning objective just happened to be, “We shall analyze the “structure” of the New York State government.” Pheffer stated that she was, indeed, impressed with class 5-501’s ease of command of “laptop” computers, plus the school’s ability in which they discover information about state government via the web. Class 5-501 was thanked for their warm reception afforded Pheffer. She even invited the students to visit her Albany office.New York State Assemblywoman Honorable Audrey I.
