Kearney Scholars Receive Scholarships

Fourteen young women who live on the peninsula were among two hundred eighty-one Bishop Kearney High School seniors who graduated on June 7. Nine of them were among the one hundred ten students who won over eight million dollars in scholarships this spring.

Tara Distable won a Dean’s Scholarship to Manhattan College, and the Bond Family Scholarship, the Din and Carol Cahill Scholarship and a Presidential Scholarship to Siena College. She will be attending Fordham University in the fall.

Mary Hickey won the Iona Scholarship to Iona College and will attend St. Francis College on the Franciscan Scholarship.

Jacquelyn Kenel will attend Mount Ida College on the Presidential Merit Scholarship.

Jessica Lovett won the Achievement Scholarship to Cabrini College and will attend Manhattan College on the Presidential Scholarship.

Cristin Mullen received the Dean’s Scholarship to Manhattan College; the Franciscan Scholarship to St. Francis College and the Ignatian Academic Scholarship to St. Peter’s College. She will attend Iona College on the Iona College Scholarship.

Eileen Mullen won the Presidential Scholarship to Manhattan College, the Marist College Scholarship to Marist College, the Presidential Scholarship to Siena College; the Graduate Tuition Scholarship to SUNY Albany and the Loyola Scholarship at the University of Scranton. She will attend Loyola College, Maryland on the National Science Foundation Scholarship.

Jaclyn Powell won the Academic Excellence Scholarship to Iona College; the Marist College Scholarship to Marist College; the Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship from the New York Lottery; the Presidential Scholarship to Siena College; the Honors Scholarship to SUNY Albany and the Loyola Scholarship to the University of Scranton. She plans to attend the College of Mt. St. Vincent on the Erasmus Scholarship in the fall.

Jillian Rossi won the CUNY Honors College Scholarship to Baruch University; the Dean’s Scholarship to Fordham University; a full Board of Trustees Scholarship to Polytechnic University and the Regents’ Scholarship to the University of Hartford. She will attend St. John’s University on a full Presidential Scholarship in the fall.

Kimberly Sicari won an Academic Achievement Scholarship to the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising. She hopes to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in the fall.

Among the other graduates are: Laura Baker, who will attend St. Thomas Aquinas College; Caitlin Boyle, who will attend Fordham University; Katelyn Brothers, who plans to attend St. John’s University; Jillian McKenna, who is undecided, and Patricia Sica, who will attend Stonybrook University.
