Peter D. Alphonse, a Rockaway resident of nearly 15 years, died on May 29.
Alphonse, who was born in St. Michael, Barbados, was an accountant. He was a parishioner at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Far Rockaway.
He is survived by his wife, Leela Alphonse; his children, Lydia, Chanson and Zalee; his mother Murina; sister Camella; brothers Clive Jr, David and Lawrence; and goddaughter Amelia Rebecca. He is preceded in death by his father, Clive Alphonse.
Mass was at St. Mary Star of the Sea, with the interment at All Saint Cemetery in Great Neck.
Thomas JosephBrennan, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away suddenly on May 28. He was 83.
Brennan born of Rockaway Beach, Queens, was the son of the late John and Sarah Reedy Brennan; he was a resident of Belle Harbor for many years before moving to Fla. in 1990. Brennan was a graduate of the College of William and Mary, class of 1941. While at college he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity and captain of the swimming team. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, achieving the rank of Captain. Brennan was also a communicant of the St. Francis De Sales Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Marion Brennan, their three children: Thomas J. Brennan Jr., of Greensboro, Georgia, Robert Brennan of Melborne Fla. and Tracey Brennan of Long Beach, NY; three grandchildren, and one brother, John J. Brennan of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Home Health Aide
Lenora Gordon, who worked in the Rockaways for many years, died on May 29. She was 59.
Gordon was born in Lowndes, Ala. She worked as a home health aide.
She is survived by her loving husband Jake Gordon Sr.; sons Jake Jr. (Amina), Lenord (Donna); daughters Loretta Gordon (Octavia), Ann Gordon-Medley (David) and LaShanta Gordon (Lee); grandchildren Shakina (Jason), Dishawn, Rachel, Nathaniel, Laquasia, Quameek, Joquan, Tyasia, Tanaia, Zaria, Terel, Yanae and Anthony; and great-granddaughter Rachel Carmen; stepfather James Washington; sister Laura Jackson Clark; aunt Elnora Oliver and godson Rodney Branton.
The funeral mass was at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Friendship Chapel, with internment at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmindale.
George Howard, a resident of Rockaway for 41 years, died on May 27. He was 91.
Howard, who was born in Belize, Central America worked as a landscaper. He is preceded in death by his wife Iona. He is survived by his children, Richard Howard and Emily Russell; his son-in-law Kevin Russell; grandchildren Janae Russell and Marjani Howard, et al.
Mass was said at Jeremiah C. Gaffney's Friendship Chapel, with interment at Rockville Cemetery.
Francis Ann McMahon, a life-long resident of Broad Channel, died on May 24 after a long illness, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She was 50.
McMahon was a recreational therapist at Promenade Nursing home until 2000 and at St. Albans Veterans Hospital until 2001. She was a member of the American Legion Post 1404 Ladies Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post 460.
Preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ann Murray, McMahon is survived by her husband Harry McMahon, sons Matthew and Timothy, brother Noel Murray and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The mass was held at St. Virgilius on Wednesday the 28, with interment at the St. Charles Cemetery.
Joseph J. Prout Sr.
Joseph J. Prout Sr., former resident of Broad Channel, died on June 3. He was 71.
Prout is survived by his eight children, Joseph Jr., Susan Nurnberger, Patricia, James, William, Joanne, Robert and John Prout; his two sisters, Barbara Scott and Patricia Cavanagh; many grandchildren; nieces, and friends.
A wake took place at Brewers Funeral Home in Spring Hill Florida. He will be buried June 9.
Alfred H. Sturup, of Flushing, N.Y., died on May 31.
Sturup, a cable manufacturer, lived in Rockaway for nearly three decades. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosina Fariello Sturup. He is survived by his daughters Irene Alicea, and Nanette Gusmorino, and sons Fred and Larry Sturup.
There was a private burial that took place on June 4.
