The Pepper Steppers are the 2002 world champions are looking forward to retaining their crown. The sport of Double-Dutch takes endurance, concentration, smooth coordination and discipline to carry out their routines. Turners turning and jumpers jumping in varied patterns and acrobatics as two ropes whiz by. But before Double-Dutch became a world-renowned sport in 1973, it was just another pastime.

After World War II, jumping rope became popular among inner-city children. In the 1950’s though the 1960’s, the sport saw a near extinction of the sport. But in the early 1970’s, the Maerican Double Dutch League was formed and since then, the league has involved more than 250,000 youths worldwide in the sport. From1975 to the present, the Pepper Steppers have been one of the top teams in the sport of Double-Dutch. Special thanks should go to Bernard Robinson, Sorrentino Recreational center manager and the Sorrentino Recreation staff.
