Gateway National Recreation Area’s Breezy Point will be the site of a guided bird walk to view nesting shorebirds on Saturday, May 31 at 1 p.m.
Participants will meet at the Fort Tilden Visitor Center and then carpool to a nearby birding spot on the Rockaway peninsula. A variety of birds, including several species of terns, gulls, and black skimmers, as well as the endangered Piping Plovers, are expected to be observed during the program.
This program is free, but reservations are required. Fort Tilden is located on Beach Channel Drive, just west of the Marine Parkway Bridge.
