RTC Begins New Season With ‘Send Me No Flowers’
Those of you who have had occasion to visit Fort Tilden in the past few weeks could not have helped but notice the flurry of activity going on at the Post Theater. One of the sure signs of the approach of summer here in the Rockaways is the presence of members of the Rockaway Theater Company, hard at work preparing for the opening of their next play. Sets are being constructed and the old theater is being given its annual spring facelift. But even more obvious is the sound of nightly rehearsals, which are in full swing already.
Peggy Page, director of last season’s Lend Me a Tenor has begun work on this summer’s comedic offering, Send Me No Flowers. Set in an anonymous suburb during the sixties, the leads, George and Judy Kimball, will be played by RTC veterans Les Kraft and Susan Heller-Beaulieu. A movie was made of it that starred Rock Hudson and Doris Day.
The performances will be held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from June 5 to June 21. There will be a special Fathers Day matinee on Sunday June 15 at 2 p.m. For further information call the RTC Hotline at 718-850-2450.
