Open Call To Artists And Sports Lovers

Rockaway Artists Alliance (RAA), members and non-members alike, are invited to submit slides/photos of artwork to be juried for the exhibition: "Local Motion: A Sports Show." The theme of the show is: Athletes, fans, sports and sporting events, with the emphasis on sports of Fort Tilden, Riis Park, Rockaway and the surrounding areas.

The submission deadline for the show is Monday, June 23. Submission is by slides and/or photos only.

The exhibition will run from July 19 to August 31, with the opening reception to be held on Sunday, July 27 at 1-3 p.m. in sTudio 7 Gallery, Fort Tilden, GNRA.

The artworks submitted for the show can be of various media including, but not limited to: Original paintings, limited edition prints, photographs, jewelry, sculpture (provide your own pedestals), pottery, ceramics, stained glass. Only artworks that were not in previous RAA exhibitions will be accepted.

Please include in your submission Slides/photos. Up to 5 slides/photos of the works being submitted for inclusion are to be placed in a slide sheet/ envelope and labeled with slide/photo number, artist’s name, medium, title of work, size and price. A corresponding slide/photo list sheet must accompany this submission. The sheet should include any specific installation requirements. This should all be sent to the Rockaway Artists Alliance at 260 Beach 116 Street, Rockaway Park, NY 11694. Acceptance notification will be made by Monday, June 30.

Accepted artwork must be dropped off at sTudio 7, Fort Tilden on Monday, July 7, 6-8 p.m. or on Tuesday, July 8, 6-8 p.m.

The hanging fee for artists is $20 for members/$25 for non-members.

Works on paper (such as watercolors, drawings and photographs): Must be securely framed with wires across the back for hanging. The works must be framed under glass.

Those submitting will be asked to sit in the gallery one day during the run of the exhibition. For further details or any questions, please contact RAA at rockart116@aol.com.

All are welcome to THE MAD TEA PARTY on Sunday, June 1 from 1 to 6 p.m. Celebrate the installation of Geoff Rawling’s 70-foot artwork in New Jersey. Come to Einstein’s at 18-01 West Edgar Road (Route 1 and 2), Linden, NJ. Wonderlandish attire encouraged.
