Papa’s Minor League girls fully understood the meaning of 100% as they entered the field on Thursday, May 15. Papa’s pitcher Taylor Conroy started off the game giving up two singles, followed by two strikeouts to hold Plum Tomatoes scoreless. The rest of the game showed a highly motivated team go to town with good at bats and multiple RBI’’s by Taylor Conroy, Lisa Pilkowski, Kyra Meli, Rebecca Moers, Kaitlin Twomey, Cathryn Brown, Mary Ameruso, Erin Tacopina, Pauline O’ Shea and a base clearing home run by Lauren Houck. 1B Annette Scott and the terrific teamwork of Kyra Meli at shortstop and Rebecca Moers at 3B held Plum to two runs for a 14-2 Papa’s victory.

The game on Saturday, May 17 dealt a knock down blow to Papa’s Pizza with the girls of Sunset Diner demonstrating some very good fielding and fired up bats commencing in the third inning. Papa’s Marissa Scotto had a tough time at bat but demonstrated outstanding caring and sportsmanship toward her injured teammate, Lisa Pulkoski. Kathleen Moore showed good patience at bat, wound up getting hit by a pitch, which pushed in a run.

Lauren Houck and Annette Scotto gave it their all by filling in for their absent teammates. Catherine Murphy did well at 2B, scored once and put two runners away at second base. Pauline O’s Shea showed good ability at bat with an RBI single and as a catcher with a putout at home. Papa’s Pizza suffered a 15-4 loss but like the auto rental company says, "We’ll try harder!"
