Local Man To
Bishop Thomas V. Daily will ordain two men to serve as priests in the Diocese of Brooklyn at a mass at St. James Cathedral Basilica on May 31.
One of those men is local Rockaway resident Josephjude C. Gannon, who recently completed his studies for the priesthood at Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington.
The other man to be ordained that day is Middle Village resident Kevin P. Abels.
Born in Far Rockaway, Father Gannon studied at St. Joseph’s School in Hewlett and St. Mary’s Star of the Sea School in Far Rockaway. He also attended Monsignor McClancy High School and St. Joseph’s College.
Father Gannon’s first mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church in Far Rockaway on Sunday, June 1 at 1:30 p.m. After the mass, a reception will be held in the parish hall.
He is the son of Paul and Patricia Gannon of Bayswater.
