McLaughlin Performs At Carnegie Hall
Tommy McLaughlin, of Breezy Point, a Junior at Xaverian High School and Pipe Major of the Xaverian High School Pipes and Drums, recently performed with conductor Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall on Friday April 25. Together with conductor Skitch Henderson, Tommy performed two bagpipe solos to the rousing applause of the sold out audience. Tommy was discovered by an associate director of the New York Pops after performing a selection of bagpiping tunes at Lincoln Center for a presentation of Victor Herbert’s "Eileen." Since entering Xaverian High School, Tommy has become one of Xaverian’s treasured assets in his astounding musical talent playing the Scottish highland bagpipes. It’s Tommy’s devotion to his high school and musical discipline that inspires him to profess the greatness of the Xaverian "Clippers," his reward was the invitation by the legendary Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops to perform center stage at the magnificent Carnegie Hall.
