Twenty-one members of the Class of 2002 at Bishop Kearney High School have been named AP Scholars by the College Board, in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement exams. Only 13% of the more than 75,000 students who took AP tests in May 2002 performed well enough to merit this recognition.
Elizabeth Alfano, Elizabeth Coleman, Kathleen Coleman and Claire D"Emic qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction award by earning grades 3 or above on five or more AP exams, with an average grade of at least 3.5.
Catherine Herchenroder, a resident of Breezy Point, qualified
for the AP Scholar with Honor Award, by earning grades of 3.25 on all AP tests taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more exams.
Another sixteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by earning a 3 or better on three or more exams. They are: Christina Alamia, Mary Bellard, Gail Brady, Elizabeth Garvin, Theresa Giammarino, Elizabeth Marra, Lisa Martusciello, Dyana Messina, Caitlin O’Callaghan, Rosa Ortiz, Jeannine Poggi, Amanda Reeves, Kristin Salber, Leanne Spitalieri, Colette Sango, and Claire Trunk.
A number of those students are Rockaway residents.
