50th Rockaway Little League Opening Day
     The Rockaway Little League is celebrating their 50th anniversary on May 3rd with Opening Day at Fort Tilden. This year, almost 100 boys and girls have registered and 75 teams will play in the following divisions: T-ball-ages 4&5, Peewee Jr.

Authorities: Report Suspicious Activity
     Residents were urged, by officials, to report all suspicious activity at a homeland security meeting this week, even though there is no specific reason to believe an act of terrorism will occur in Rockaway, they said.

Closed After 75 Years In Rockaway
     Lowitt Labs has closed its doors after nearly 75 years of service to the Rockaway Community both as a pharmacy and as a medical supply company. The store, at Beach 70 Street and RBB found itself in the Arverne Urban Renewal Area, on a site that will one day be new homes.

Green Bus Meets Orange Truck
     A Wave photographer witnessed a painful meeting of truck and bus on Tuesday morning, when the driver of a Green bus attempting to make a wide right turn from Beach 116 to Rockaway Beach Boulevard lost his concentration and hit an orange Parks Department truck whose driver was attempting the same turn nearer to the curb.
