Meeks Hosts Homeland Security Panel
Congressman Gregory W. Meeks will be sponsoring a Town Hall Meeting on Homeland Security on Monday, April 28, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Far Rockaway High School.
The question offered to the panel is whether the Sixth Congressional District in general and the Rockaway peninsula in particular, is prepared. There will be a panel discussion and a question/answer session.
"We live on an isolated peninsula," Meeks told The Wave. "We must have all the information we need to be proactive rather than reactive."
"Since 9/11, the world has changed greatly," Meeks said. "We want to pass on information that is vitally needed to stay safe in the new environment – information that does not include plastic sheets and duct tape."
According to Meeks, the invited guests who will form the panel include members from of the Office of Emergency Management, New York City Police Department, New York City Fire Department, Peninsula Hospital, St. John’s Hospital, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the Port Authority of NY/NJ.
Far Rockaway High School is located at 821 Beach 25 Street.
