Sounds And Sights Of Motown Celebrates Black History

"Sounds and Sights of Motown" was presented by the Multicultural Committee at Far Rockaway High School on March 19 and March 20. The program offered acts inspired by Motown. Performances included "Motown Interlude," featuring Mr. Carpentier and Mr. Gentile; "The Robettes" (Ebonie Johnson, Toya Reid, and Makiko Duffus) doing "You Can’t Hurry Love," and "I Heard It Through The Grapevine;" Andre Reid provided poetry with saxophone accompaniment by Roberto Zepeda; "The Rock Tops" (Carey Davis, Richard Forbes, Dasheen Jordan, and Marlon Rodriguez) with "I Can’t Help Myself;" "Motown Fashion" (Natalie Belus, Odalice Brito, Dorine Fortune, Charlotte Pusey, and Emzie Snipes) performed "My Guy;" "Heatwave" was done by "The Vandrelles" (Mellissa Ellis and Dominique Lee); and Tina Cole and Robert Sanabria concluded the show with "Endless Love" and "How Sweet It Is." Ms. Iloka made an essay award presentation. Ms. McCauley’s students provided art presentations and readings.
