More Money For ‘Ferryless’ Ferry Landing

Representative Anthony Weiner has announced $400,000 in federal funds for the construction of a permanent ferry landing and sea wall at the former Coast Guard station at Riis landing.  Over the past three years, Rep. Weiner has secured over $1.1 million to renovate the site.

The transportation needs of the Rockaways 1 million residents have long been under served. With two overburdened bridges, limited train access and an aging fleet of buses, its imperative that we explore innovative transportation alternatives.

Over the past three years, Rep. Weiner has secured $1,198,000 to renovate the Riis landing ferry site, in Rockaway.  This latest $400,000 installment of funds was included in the Omnibus Appropriations Bill.

"This is another important step in the renovation of Riis landing," said Rep. Weiner.
