Assigned to USS Harry S. Truman
Navy Petty Officer Third Class Quan Martinear, a 1999 graduate of Far Rockaway High School, is halfway through a scheduled six-month deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman home ported in Norfolk, Virginia.
Martinear is one of more than 8,000 Atlantic Fleet sailors and Marines on a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Arabian Gulf while aboard the ships and squadrons of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Battle Group.
During the first half of the deployment, Martinear’s ship took part in training exercises in the Mediterranean Sea and made a port visit to Kopar, Slovenia. The sailors and marines had the opportunity to shop, sightsee and enjoy the local culture and cuisine.
