Lawrence Woodmere Academy Holds Comedy Basketball Show

Lawrence Woodmere Academy gymnasium will be rocking on Sunday, March 23 at 4 p.m. when the LWA students and faculty take on the world famous Harlem Rockets. The LWA Parent Association is sponsoring the family basketball event.

Lawrence Woodmere Academy, a nursery through twelfth grade independent, co-ed, non-sectarian day school located on Long Island’s South Shore. LWA has been an institution of educational excellence for more than a century. It is recognized for producing outstanding graduates who have contributed to the life of the Five Towns, Nassau County and beyond.

The Harlem Rockets are a team of talented, well-known, and well trained players who excel in comedy basketball at its finest. The Harlem Rockets possess a striking advantage… their opponents will be made of LWA middle and upper school students and faculty members. This advantage brings more enthusiasm to the audience because the players are members of the school community!

The fabulous Harlem Rockets basketball team is headed this season by two outstanding basketball comedians- 6’6 Sayeed "Rainbow" Montaqim and 7’2 Ricky "Rim Rocker" Lopes. The crowd will be glued to their seats when these two super comedians display their basketball razzmatazz and their sidesplitting antics. Proceeds benefit various LWA Parent Association sponsored programs including teacher recognition days, building and landscaping projects, holidays celebrations and much more. Ticket price is $12. For more information, call 516-374-9000. LWA is located at the intersection of Woodmere Boulevard and West Broadway, Woodmere, N.Y.
