Rockaway Resident Wins Hockey Championship
Kyle Mitchell a Sophomore at Chaminade High School provid-
ed rugged defensive play to help the Long Island High School to it’s sixth Catholic High School Hockey League Championship, but it’s first since the ’94 -’95 season. Lead by Mitchell’s hard hitting and exceptional puck control, the Chaminade Junior Varisty outscored their opponents throughout the playoffs by a combined score of 35 to 4. Mitchell hits the books as hard as attacking opponents by maintaining a 97 average at the prestigious high school in Mineola. Next up for Mitchell is a trip to Buffalo, New York, as his Midget travel team, the Freeport Arrows, represents the Eastern Zone in the New York State Amateur Hockey Association Championships. They earned this honor by winning the Long Island Hockey Association regular season cham-pionship. It is March madness on the ice for Kyle Mitchell.
