P.S. 106 Celebrates Black History Month
On Friday, February 28, P.S. 106 of District 27 celebrated Black History Month with a luncheon prepared and provided by the parents.
During the luncheon, winners of The Brown Family Essay Contest were awarded. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown and family have sponsored the contest for many years.
The annual contest focuses on African Americans who have made significant contributions to society. This year’s focus was African American Authors.
The winners researched their chosen author and read aloud their essay reports to those in attendance at the luncheon.
The winners were: Samuel Schmidt (kindergarten), Aaron Davis (first grade), Silaka Cox (second grade), Bria Barfield (third grade0, Justin Eubanks (fourth grade), Sheniqua Jeffrey (fifth grade). Each winner received a certificate and $25.00.
